Maybelline has chosen Indian model Diana Penty as new face. With this, she joins the ranks of international supermodels like Adriana Lima and Christy Turlington. “I feel great to get this break to endorse a brand that is so lively and truly multi-ethnic. For me it is not only about whom I am replacing but it’s about being on the same platform as international models and get international publicity,” Penty said in a declaration.

Currently Penty is a student of the Elite Model Management, where Sushma Puri is the CEO. “Diana has a face that is very versatile and appeals to both Indian and international markets and she is also young, beautiful and confident. This makes her the ideal choice for any international brand,” Puri said.

Deepika Padukone was named the brand ambassador of Maybelline in June 2007.

Diana is delighted on another good news as well. Diana Penty, has been signed on to play the lead role in Imtiaz Ali’s film Rockstar, top lining Ranbir Kappor.

The film has been in the news ever since Imtiaz approached Katrina Kaif for the female lead role and she refused. Imtiaz then almost signed Anushka Sharma, but then decided a new face would work better. The fact that Diana had starred in an advertisement with Ranbir worked in her favor. Imtiaz was searching for a suitable actress for the new project- new face or old. For some time he even toyed with the idea of roping in one-film-old Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif for the film, but later dropped the idea.

Lucky Diana, Imtiaz has signed up Diana for the movie named “Rockstar” against the ‘Wake Up Sid’ actor.

Diana is a newcomer for the bigscreen, however she’s done ads for various cosmetic brands. ‘Rockstar’ will be a love story set in musical background. Imtiaz Ali is happy with the grungy looking Diana Penty for the role.

Director Jithu Joseph is bring another family movie with Kunchacko Boban, Archana Kavi, Mukesh, Lalu Alex, Urvashi, Shari, Janardhanan, Anoop Menon.

World over malayalees life is getting a make over due to the influence of tv programes. That is the same reason why this movie may become a success.

The story line goes like this. Mommy and Me movie is about the daugher and mother played by Urvashi and Archana Kavi.

Archana Kavi protrays todays teenage daugher in a middle class family who is demanding more freedom in her life. She is not happy with her mother trying to control her life. This leads to friction and Joseph (Mukesh), the father, has to bear the brunt of it. His efforts to be a bridge fail most of the time.

And there is Jewel’s young brother who tries to spy on her; Rahul who loves Jewel secretly(played by Kunchako Boban. Story takes the turn as Jewel gets into trouble with the college bad guys and rahul saves her.

The cast saves the movie from being a total disaster. Urvasi performs excellent as over protective mother of the daughet. Archana should consider herself lucky to get such an author-backed role so early in her career and that too opposite Urvasi. Archana need to graduate as an actress to take up any role with substance. Kunchako Boban is trying his best to look like and act like a college student. Veterans like Mukesh and Lalu Alex have nothing exceptional to do.

This movie is getting ample attention and is is going to be another successfull in Malayalam as the subject and the presentation is loved by the malayalee family world wide. The society is looking for such good movies rather than purely commercial cinema.

Writer-director Jeethu Joseph tries to prove his versatility with this film, but does not succeed fully as the film is very loud. It may be the title and the story line which is doing the magic.

‘Vedam’ is a complex cocktail of five different interwoven stories. All the five stories are able carry forward by its own. The first part introduces the characters and their problems in life. Everybody have problems in life, very natural.

A muslim youth’s wife suffers a miscarriage due to a rally organised by Hindus and is trying to prove that he is not a terror.

It also shows a women trying to flee from a brothel along with her colleagues. The role of a prostitute ‘Saroja’ is done by Anushka Shetty and shows off her slim belly to prove that yoga can flatten belly.

A rock star who desparately trying to make it big in the music world is the third character.

Ramulu an old man sets out on a journey with his daughter-in-law to get some money home for his sons educaation.

Another is an educated poor guy trapped in proverty want some cash to impress his wealthy girl friend.

In Vedam each individual delivers their most excellent. The cameos by Bhramanandam and Krish himself were suitably written too. The movie ‘Vedham’ will establish a new cult of film creation, from the response it is receiving presently.

MM Keeravani composed the music written by Sirivennela Seetarama Sastry, Sahiti, E S Murthy and Keeravani.

The multi starrer Vedam Cast includes Anushka Shetty, Nagaiah, Allu Arjun, Deeksha Seth, Manoj Manchu, Lekha Washington and Manoj Bajpai.

Pokkiri Raja is the newest picture by the ever green Mammootty. However there is another old Tamil movie (1982) by this same name by Rajnikant. A picture with out story and reason. However, it will turn out to be another hit in Tamil and Malayalam as it is a crowd entertainer. The society is wanting for such films rather than high-quality films. There was days when Mammooty used to do only high-quality malayalam films, however currently the actor is trying to maintain equilibrium between both ends.

The narrative of Pokkiriraja is very vague. Pokkiri Raja picture is about two sons Raja and Surya (Mammootty and Prithviraj) of an idealistic school teacher who turn into dadas. One of them run away from home and become a big dada while the brother stays at home and turns into a local dada. The full plot is made around two feudal families battling over a temple festival in a village; a typical tamil picture style.

Later on the 2 dadas run into eachother in a big city and sparks fly as they do not see that they are brothers. Nothing new about the story if it is there. Pokkiriraja is directed by newcomer Vyshakh.

The dialogues go like this: Mammootty claims he is not insecure of the immature Prithviraj as he has just started taking tiny steps. The whole narrative where the two actors share the screen are interspersed with such talk.

And, when Prithviraj talks about the dress code in night clubs, Mammootty claims to be the style icon of youths for long time. This goes on like that for ever.

Both Mammootty and Prithviraj have ample scope to please their hardcore followers. Mammootty is trying out little bit comedy along with dance as it is the present trend.

Prithviraj packaged as a healthy entertainer does not disappoint. One just hopes that this manufactured adulation does not go to his head. Editor have done a brilliant job by picking all those small romantic sequences from a lengthy picture and compile to a beautiful to watch 3 mints video as the song “Manikkinavin”. Slick presentation and some action scenes which are bound to go well with the masses are the highlights of this movie. All in all for the true viewer, it is a disappointment. But it will turn out to be a super hit.
