After a psycho thriller Hare Ram, the scion of Nandamuri family returns with a comic-caper. Loosely inspired by the Hindi film Saudagar, the film hasn’t been able to retain the flavour of the original.

Lovers Kalyan Ram and Hansika hail from warring families, exchange places to re-unite their parents, sounds interesting, but incoherent narration mars the show. Probably, debutant director Naren was under the impression that he could get away by stitching up a series of comedy scenes but it could rebound, given that comic flicks also demand solid scripts. Even the reason for the separation of the friends (Mukesh and Jayaprakash) seems contrived.
Barring a few laughs, the director fails to appropriately blend action and humour in right measure and ends up delivering a tame laugh riot. However, a racy song sequence with animated characters is interesting.
The film begins by establishing the animosity between Mukesh Rishi and Jayaprakash Reddy. Later, Kalyan (Mukesh’s son) arrives in India to save a friend from the clutches of Jayprakash’s kin. He then leaves for Hong Kong on a mission and befriends Hansika. Both of them decide to get marrie,d but Hansika gets the shock of her life when she comes to know that Kalyan is the son of her dad’s enemy. That’s when the lovers decide to trade places.

Kalyan displays a flair for comedy, but could have added more intensity to scenes that demanded it. Hansika comes up with a lively performance but should go on a crash diet to shed her extra weight. Comedians Raghu Babu, Ali, Mukesh and Jayaprakash are adequate.The cinematography (by Sivendra) and musical score (by Thaman) let the film down.

Hansika Motwani reportedly received more than three million bucks for doing an item number opposite Prabhas in the film Billa.

When the whole world is obsessed with  — ‘recession and paycuts’ — Tollywood makers seem to think otherwise and are shelling out super bucks to rope in hotshot stars. “I was paid what I deserve,” says Hansika Motwani, downplaying the issue. Now that she has got a huge amount, will she be seen in more item numbers in Tolly? “No more item numbers for me! I did this song only for director Meher Ramesh, who is also like my brother,” she insists.

Actually, she has surpassed Aishwarya Rai (who did an item number with Nagarjuna in Ravoyi Chandamama few years ago) and Charmy (who appeared in a item number in Bhale Dongalu) to become a pricey item girl.

Determined not to let the injury pin her down, this 17-year-old put on her blue graduation gown and hat and celebrated her achievement! “Mom allowed me to become an actor on the condition that I would continue with my studies. So that’s exactly what I’m doing. I’m only too happy to be a graduate now!” says a delighted Hansika. But life’s lessons will always be on-going dearie. There’s just no graduating from that, is there?
